The IHI Performance VF48 is a stock appearing OEM+ turbo upgrade for Subaru’s 2.5L EJ25 engine. Manufactured by IHI, Subaru’s factory turbo partner, this turbo spools early like a stock VF39, VF41, or VF48, but IHI utilized an advanced compressor wheel design to move more air, providing an OEM+ solution for any driver looking to boost the performance of their Subaru.
The IHI turbo upgrade shares the same reliability and fitment as an OEM Subaru turbo, meaning it connects perfectly to stock components and fittings. Expect pump gas power gains of 400+hp with improved throttle response and boost modulation.

TECHNICAL NOTES
- This IHI turbo upgrade is designed specifically for the Subaru EJ25 engine
- Stock components will bolt right up to this turbo, meaning no other modifications are needed.
- If the turbocharger unit you select has the adjustable turnbuckle actuator, please use a precise boost gauge and fasten the nuts of the turnbuckle on the actuator rod when adjusting.
- To control boost pressure, you will need a boost controller or solenoid which is sold separately.
- You must run premium pump gas or e85 once this turbo is installed and tuned.
- Subaru highly recommends purchasing a new Banjo Bolt and Screen (SUB 14445AA090) with any installation of a new turbo.
- This turbo may also work for other Subaru models of different years, but additional modifications may be required.
