A Cheap Solution for a Costly Problem
With the way the turbocharger is mounted off the bottom of an FA20 engine, the weight of the turbo and exhaust components like the j-pipe create a lot of stress on your header. This can lead to cracks in the metal and/or welds, causing leaks, a drastic loss in power and potential engine issues. To remedy this, Subaru uses a bracket to brace the turbo to the engine block, but the factory bracket doesn't allow for any adjustment and often times does not fit with aftermarket components like headers, exhaust pipes or turbos.
When installing an aftermarket j-pipe or header on your FA20 WRX, it is difficult to get the OEM turbo support bracket to line up like factory. That is where the GrimmSpeed J-Pipe/Turbo Support Bracket comes in. The mounting holes in our bracket are slotted to allow for some wiggle room to account for slight differences in how the header and j-pipe are aligned. These brackets are designed around the GrimmSpeed Equal Length Header and J-Pipe for the 2015-21 WRX, but they should fit with most aftermarket stock-location headers and 3" j-pipe setups. If your current setup does not have one of these brackets, we recommend that you install one immediately before damage occurs!
